Why the order matters, and how to set it

Merging is almost always about sequence — a signature page after a contract, receipts after an expense form. Files are added in the order you pick them, and the list under the drop zone shows that order with the position each will take. Use the arrows to move a file up or down, or remove it, and the merged PDF is rebuilt straight away.

Documents that should not be uploaded

The PDFs people most often need to merge are contracts, ID scans, invoices and medical records. Every other merge tool sends those to a server, processes them there and hands back a link — which means a copy of your document sat on a machine you do not control, for as long as that company's retention policy says.

This one assembles the file in your browser. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing to retain, nothing to leak, and no reason to cap how many files you use.

Usable on a work computer

Plenty of workplaces block file uploads to outside websites, to keep contracts and customer records from leaving the building. On those machines the usual online converters simply fail.

This one has no upload to block. Whether your organisation permits a particular site is still its own call, so check with your IT team if you handle regulated material.

Why this is built this way

Files that pass through someone else's server can be logged, cached, retained after the promised deletion window, or exposed in a breach. Contracts, ID scans, medical records and private photos are exactly the files people most often have to convert, and exactly the ones that should not be handed to a stranger's machine.

It is also why there is no file size limit, no daily quota, and no account. Those restrictions exist to control server costs. With no server in the loop, there is nothing to ration.

Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?

No. The merge happens in your browser and the files never leave your device. You can confirm it in the Network tab of your developer tools, or by turning off your Wi-Fi after the first use and merging again.

How many files can I merge?

There is no set limit. Since nothing is uploaded there is no quota to enforce, and the practical ceiling is your device's memory.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied across as they are, so text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed. The result is the same content in one file.

Can it merge password protected PDFs?

No. A locked PDF cannot be opened without its password, and this tool will tell you which file is protected rather than producing a broken result. Remove the password first, then merge.
